Caroline and I are reading aloud through Genesis during our homeschool time right now.
It’s striking how many times men lied about their wife being their sister to “protect” themselves to the point they would allow their wife to be taken away by another man.
God still worked through these sinful and fearful men to bring about the salvation of mankind through Jesus Christ. And Jesus came through unloved Leah, not Rachel. How many in the church today would have expected God to choose the beloved Rachel?
Many Christians today think God will only work through “perfect” men with the right systematic theology, the right confession, etc. Anyone who falls short can’t be supported.
That’s not how it works.
Look at what happened in the last month with the downfall of one particular prominent preacher and theologian. He had the “perfect” theological system to the extent people put him on a pedestal, ignoring his flaws and warning signs.
Perhaps God gave us the Steve Lawson example just before the election for a reason.
After all, this had been going on for five years. Why did the Lord choose to have it exposed now?
How many conservative Christians would have eagerly “voted” for Steven Lawson, thinking he was a godly man when he was in fact hiding serious sin for five years?
There are no perfect men or women. Christians should stop expecting to find them on earth and work with who God has provided at this time.
I am so confused. This new format is beyond me. Follow Me? How and why have you changed again????
Hi Melinda,
I haven’t changed anything recently.
There is the newsletter/email subscription. Those go out when I sit down to write an email to subscribers. That’s the form that is currently on the Subscribe page and under the individual posts. That hasn’t changed in a long time. Ideally I would send out a newsletter 2-4 times a week. In reality, it happens a few times a month.
The Follow Me option is now on the Subscribe page. It’s a separate feature I pay for and offer. It is for readers who want to be notified instantly whenever I put up a new post and not wait for when I send out an email.
So, for example, I’ve posted a lot of content lately but hadn’t written a newsletter. The people who opt-in to the Follow Me would have gotten an email notification in real time for each post as I published it. The newsletter people wouldn’t have gotten anything for a few weeks.
Some people do both because they want both.
I hope that helps!
Sallie
Hi again,
I am working on simplifying my website and removed the sidebar. To cut down on confusion, I put both options on the Subscribe page. Hopefully that will make it easier for people to understand.

Thanks for making me aware that it wasn’t clear!
