Christianity Today Actually Published This – The Shocking Necessity of Racist Violence

Christianity Today jumped the theological shark long ago, but this surprised even me a bit. It’s that over the top awful.

Then I saw that the author is connected to the Christian Reformed Church (CRC). This kind of stuff is what made it impossible for us to even attend a CRC church and choose to return to (my) Baptist roots. I’m so thankful to be back in a sane, Gospel-preaching Baptist church with a pastor who preaches the Gospel and love of the Body of Christ toward one another.

This hateful rhetoric is destroying the CRC. Actually, it has already destroyed the CRC. The problem is no one wants to be the one to say enough and blow it up once and for all. Too many people deeply attached to the historically Dutch faith community of their parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and extended family. It creates an unhealthy attachment to the denomination for too many.

It is stunning to see Christianity Today publish such a generalized, uncharitable, woke attack:

“White Christianity’s very design exists to maintain false piety and sear the consciences of white people against the oppression and exploitation of blacks.”https://t.co/eQAFIbayEB

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.

countenance: To favor; to encourage by opinion or words; To encourage; to appear in defense (Websters Dictionary 1828)
