I have mentioned the questions swirling around the Scofield Bible and Cyrus I. Scofield a number of times. At long last, I’m putting together a post that will give readers plenty to dive into.

I’ve debated how to organize this post over the past few months while looking for an opportunity to do it. I decided to start with a video Shelly at There’s No Place Like Home did last week. She offers a good overview of the criticisms of C.I. Scofield and his reference Bible in general. I recommend watching this first if this is all fairly new to you. The articles that follow will make more sense if you have a broad understanding of the debate and criticisms.

As always, the inclusion of links in this post is not a blanket endorsement of all the content, the website, or the author.

The Truth About Your Scofield Bible and C.I. Scofield

This is a good beginner’s look at the main themes of the discussion.

How Zionists Conquered American Christianity with the Scofield Bible

This is a reprinted article I featured in another post on my website. It is an extensive look at how the Scofield Bible has impacted American Christianity.

J.D. Hall Substack Series on Scofield Conspiracy Theory

J.D. Hall did a series about Scofield. This is a deep dive with a bit of tongue-in-cheek conspiracy talk. But this gets into all of the elements around the discussion and then goes way further than most articles ever dream of doing.

Articles About Scofield, Dispensationalism, and the Jesuit Connection

Next up, here are some articles that deal with Scofield and/or Dispensationalism. Some are more theological. Some of more conspiratorial. I leave it to you to decide the truth about each.

  • Dispensationalism from Ligonier Ministries (R.C. Sproul affiliated)
  • The Scofield Bible—The Book That Made Zionists of America’s Evangelical Christians from Washington Report of Middle Eastern Affairs
  • Sorting Out the Truth of the Impact of Jews on the Western World from this website
  • Analyzing Cyrus I. Scofield and His Teachings from The Gospel Truth
  • Futurism and the Bible from The Gospel Truth (This one gets into the alleged Jesuit connection and the attempt to subvert the Protestant Reformation.)
  • Why The Heresy Of Zionism Is So Dangerous To Christians from Jesus is Precious (This one was written in 2016 and is very conspiratorial. Although given what we know now, it sounds way less conspiratorial than most of us would have thought at that time.)
  • Scofield articles from We Hold These Truths (There are many of them and I have not read them all.)
  • How Zionism Took Control of the USA from The Millenium Report (This one really goes in-depth, including specific pastors and Christian leaders.)

The Spread of the Scofield Bible

I wrote an article about an unexpected way the message of the Scofield Bible was spread throughout America in the early twentieth century.

YouTube Videos About the Scofield Bible

There are dozens of videos on YouTube about the Scofield Bible, Dispensationalism, Israel, and C.I. Scofield. I suggest going here and scrolling to see what jumps out at you.

Additional Cyrus I. Scofield Books

There are several Scofield books available in digital copies at the Library of Congress online. You can view them here.

I hope you find this helpful as you sort out your understandings of Zionism and its impact on American Christianity and the United States of America.

A Christian Nation

"The real object of the first amendment was not to countenance, much less to advance, Mahometanism, or Judaism, or infidelity, by prostrating Christianity; but to exclude all rivalry among christian sects, and to prevent any national ecclesiastical establishment, which should give to a hierarchy the exclusive patronage of the national government."

Joseph Story (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court), Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), § 1871.
